Coupon Altar

The Coin, Coupon and Gem Altars

Coupon Cards

When I started out in Deck heroes, I thought coupon altar was the place where I was going to get all the great cards from. Unfortunately only a few common 5 star cards are available in the coupon Altar. Some of the common cards are really good though.

Below is the list of 5 star cards you can get from the coupon altar.
  1. Titania
  2. Phantom Liege
  3. Spirit Siren
  4. Hanuman
  5. Balthazar
  6. Gorgon
  7. Anathema
  8. Ash Beast
  9. Pit Dragon
  10. Terror Dragon
  11. Nidhogg
  12. Undying Will
  13. Bloodletter

Strategy

I recommend to draw 5 cards daily from the coupon altar. It gives you something to look forward to daily. Doing the quests for coupon shards will become your routine too.

Moreover, the 5 star cards you get early in the game would be useful. As you progress, the usefulness of the common 5 star cards will go down and you will be looking only for duplicates to meld.

When you are new, drawing six Phantom Lieges and doing a meld might look impossible. In late game you will have plenty of common 5 star cards. Keep going!

Luck

There is a rumour that there are times when the server luck is high and you have better chances to draw 5 star cards during this time. My experience is that it is just superstition. Any time is as good as any other to draw a card with a coupon.

Sometimes you can get super lucky and get multiple 5* in a draw. Sometimes you might not get a 5* from a hundred coupons. It is your luck, not the server luck.

Usually the features available 24x7 (like the altar or lucky draw) do not give out anything exceptional. Gem altar has a few more creatures, but it recommended to draw from booster packs instead of altar.

What is your experience with the altar draws?

  1. Yeah there is no such thing as server luck. Also no such thing as 5* drop rates increase in bulk draws. I did one 200 draw once after months of savings, didn’t receive a single 5*.

    1. Yeah! We often see patterns where none exists, precisely because it is random. :)

  2. Maybe is just luck, but I get the same draw with Anathema and Phanton Liege at the same time. By the way, this are the only five star cards I get from altar.

    1. That happens quite a lot. Pseudo-random number generators are not fully random. The program might be taking seeds for the random numbers based on the time as well (seconds or milliseconds etc).

  3. The mechanism of alter draw is based on random number generation. This kind of program is actually based on a difficult math equation that depends on a origin number called seed.
This seed varies so the random number does. In some cases seeds are set depending on system clock. But this doesn't mean that there will be repeat day after day. Because each time is unique. Time includes hh.mm.ss.day.month.year. now there might be given an if else condition to manipulate the algorithm to guaranteed cards. The random number becomes seed for the next random number...

This random generation algorithm can also be performed by making the last draw time your seed. (I am a programmer)

For my openion the first option is what deck heros use. Thus some people get more 5 stars than others. If the second method is correct, people drawing at same time (though it's very difficult) will get same cards from the alter and even the server time luck might be true.

    1. Your deck heros id can also manipulate the random card generation. Suppose the math equation uses your deck heros id too. For a simple instance it is added or substracted from your result for final random number. which in terms represent the id of the card that will be drawn.

  4. Thanks Froster for the very good explanation. I too think the altar seed is based on time, because of how often two good cards appear in a 5x draw (assuming each card is seeded separately). This holds good for skill-essence draws too.

I had 12 failures in a row trying to craft orange level 5 equipment at 42%. I have no idea if it is a problem with the seed, or I was just 1/3333 people who has 12 fails in a row, assuming pure randomness at 42%. 13 was success, 14 and 15 again failures. I just pray that it is random lol
